You can dress 'em up, but you can't take 'em out!
Jun 28 2010
I went to a homeschool convention not too long ago and found some beautiful, handmade, smocked dresses. I began talking to the woman who sewed them and was totally impressed, not only with her expertise, but also the love that she pours into her work. In a society where we go for cheaper and bigger, it's refreshing to see a project that is an outpouring of love instead of industry.
I bought a couple of dresses for Klara and Kenna. In my mind, they would wear their little smocked dresses in a field of wildflowers, holding hands while skipping toward the creek bank. There would probably be the distant sounds of Pa's fiddle playing in the background and the sunlight would play upon their eyelashes and their braided hair.
This is what I got:

Is it my imagination or does Klara look like something off a movie poster advertising a horror flick?

Oh, well. It may not be Pa's fiddle, but these ladies are playing my tune!!
