Welcome to a video shoot!
Sep 01 2010
I was doing a video shoot from my home last week, where I give tips on television stations all over the country from the comfort of my home.
Well, it WAS comfortable...until the crew arrived and took it over.
I just thought I would let you get the inside scoop on what really happens during a video shoot. There's a whole other world behind the scenes.
First, they moved all my furniture in the living room to the sides to make room for the monitors and other equipment. Check out this picture. Doesn't it look like your every day cozy living room?
Then I get my hair and makeup done by my good friend and makeup artist, Ashley. Unfortunately, since I'm the one taking pictures, I couldn't take a picture of that. Oh, well...
While my makeup is getting done, they light the set, which is an art form in itself. They make my kitchen look so bright and cheerful! They also set up two cameras--one is always on me and that's the one I talk to. The other captures cutaway shots, like when you see something in my hand or a prop on the counter.
The crazy thing is that after it's all over, they get their gear, head out, and it looks like they never came at all. How do they do that?
And sometimes, you get a funny screen shot that you have to share. Check out this picture. I was leaning back, talking, because I was doing a radio interview and didn't have to look into the camera for that one. And one of the producers was sticking his head into the shot. Isn't this hilarious???

And, there you have it folks. Hope you enjoyed the tour!
