Three Worst Shows of 2010....the results are in!

Dec 30 2010

Kyler came in the kitchen yesterday and asked me the strangest question:
"Mom, if you could pick three shows that made you really mad at what our society has become, what would they be?"

Well, that caught me off-gaurd and I had to do some serious thinking. But between me and Kyler, we came up with three winners (or I should say, "losers").

So, the results are in....here are our picks for the THREE WORST SHOWS of 2010.

Starting with #3

Yes, ladies...brides to be are living together and competing. What's the prize, you ask? The winner gets head-to-toe plastic surgery in preparation for her big wedding. Aside from the obvious self-centered shallow approach toward women, my big question is this: What groom would want to marry a woman who he doesn't even recognize and who evidently lacks the strength of character to make a marriage work? Wow, society has sunk to a new low with this show!

Now for #2

This show causes an immediate gag reflex in me. Let's take our precious little children, stick makeup, false eyelashes, and wigs on them, and then train them to perform like circus monkeys. I know no mom is perfect, but C'MON! Can't these parents see that this inherently wrong. Children are supposed to be children. They are supposed to play in the mud, get food on their faces, and walk in the grass barefooted. Our jobs as parents is to train our children to NOT be self-centered. This show is training them to BE self-centered. Someone stop the madness!

And the winner for the worst show of 2010 is...(drum roll, please)

You guessed it! Teen Mom! Who would ever come up with the idea of a show that glorified teenagers getting pregnant? I know so many people who have devoted their lives to helping teenagers navigate through the temptations and dangers of the teen years by developing a strong, Godly moral code. Then here comes a show that basically exalts pre-marital sex and teen pregnancies. How sad that our culture not only considers this normal behavior, but it is basically an expected part of the teenage experience. There's a better way, people--and it's not a box of condoms, either. By the way, everything on MTV could get a place on this list, but I didn't have the room.

Looking back on my list, I realized that all three are a slap in the face of the very things I consider sacred--marriage and family. So, now I want to know...what are your picks for the worst shows of 2010?? Post them here and let me know!

Teen MOM i have to 110% agree. Nothing like making getting pregnant at 15 years old gets you on MTV whoopee. I have an 11 year old that was just told by her friend she lost her virginity with another girl. I could not even think of a response to this.

I totally agree with your choices, I think MTV should be shut down for airing that show, it proves they do not care about people in anyway, only ratings. I also cannot stand any of the Real Housewives of anywhere. Alot of wealthy women behaving badly. The others on my list are Kate Plus 8, any of the reality shows on MTV, and The Bachelor. I cannot stand watching women fight over some stranger and treat each other badly and how can any of this lead to love? I think they all want fame but anyhow, cannot stand the show, not empowering for women at all.

The only good thing about Toddlers in Tiaras is it keeps me from starting this with my kids. My kids are beautiful and charming, and sometimes in a weak and foolish moment I think of a beauty pageant or a talent agency to give them a big stage so I could share how special they are to me. Then I see the show and realize NO WAY!!!! You are completely right. The values of pageants are not mine and I want my kids to play and grow strong in faith, not trying to look like a Doll.

Family Guy is also terrible.

And "Wives of Rock" (or is it "Married to Rock"?) is just scary to see. Not a nose or boob created by God. They all look like alien sisters from the planet Scalpel!

Modern Family. I know it's not quite as popular, but we prefer being the old-fashioned, out-of-date family with one mom, one dad, and kiddos.

I agree with your list. PBS has many fine programs (nudge at Hannah) but their Saturday night British comedies are a bore. With the exception of some of John Cleese's works, British comedies could be the death of me!

I agree with all the shows listed, but want to add a new one to the list.... 100 Ways to Die. I find this show horrible and disrespectful to life itself. I once had a student (2nd grader), tell me it was their favorite show. It made me sad for the child, and explained so much about behavioral issues I was seeing within the classroom.
