This Week's Giveaway: The Daniel Fast

Feeding your body is one thing, but feeding your soul is something entirely different. And when you can pair those two together--WOW! You're on to something BIG! I flipped through the book, "The Daniel Fast" when I was in the bookstore the other day and thought to myself, 'I've got to talk to this woman!' Fortunately, I was able to corner on the phone for about an hour and get into the nuts and bolts of what The Daniel Fast is all about. She also has a great website!

If you're familiar with the story of Daniel in the Bible, then you already know that when the king commanded for the men who served him to be fed the finest, richest food from the king's table, Daniel resisted. He said, (and this is paraphrased), "Look, dude, I'll make you a deal. Keep your fat, rich food. Feed me and my buddies here with fresh veggies and water and then see if we don't look better, feel better, and perform better." Well, sure enough, the king took him up on it. And, sure enough, Daniel was right!

Susan digs into what this Daniel fast is all about and how to do it in our own lives. Not only is this booked packed with vital information, but it also has a ton of delicious recipes. Leave a comment below sharing your best tip on tying your faith in with your food and you'll be entered to win a FREE copy of "The Daniel Fast." One of my favorite tips is to pray before you even start cooking a meal--get rid of frustration or anger and go into the meal preparation time with gratitude. OH, and listen in to the interview with Susan--great stuff!!

I just started your Bible Reading Program this morning (7/18). Week One has Daniel 1 on the list. It's funny that I read about that very fast this morning and sitting in my email box was your article to read a book about Daniel's fast :) Hmmm... never really thought much about it honestly, but while I was reading my Bible, some old papers fell out. Among the papers was a list of different types of fasts that someone had given me a long time ago. I've not picked up my Bible in years, but with your program it's back in my hands. Coincindences don't just happen, there are reasons for everything. Perhaps a fast or two will do me some good. Thanks Hannah!

The main way I tie my faith into my food is to eat foods as close to the way God made them. Fresh fruits and veggies, grains, and drink water. Actually you got me on this idea Hannah so I owe it to you! Thanks so much!

I've recently lost 34 pounds and I'm stagnating, having a hard time losing anything for the past month, even though I have 20 more pounds to go. It's been a process for me to start enjoying fresh veggies, but I do now! Maybe this book could get me out of my rut and on to even better health and weight loss.

My tip for tying my faith to food.....I am convicted that we are to treat our bodies as the Lord's temple as stated in the Bible. One way that I can do that is to stay healthy by eating healthy. Right now our local farmer's market is full of fresh vegetables and fruits of which I am voraciously partaking! There is a lady there that makes fresh breads which I also buy for my family. I am not much of a meat eater, but there are two families at the market that raise beef, pork and chicken without any added hormones, anti-biotics, etc. Even though it is more expensive than the grocery store, I buy this fresh meat for my family because it is healthier and I am supporting local farmers. And there is also the local dairy that sells fresh milk (no added anything)at the farmer's market....the best! I also buy organic fruits and veggies from another family at the market when I can....yes, these are more expensive also, but healthier for us. And I always try to remember to thank the Lord for the blessing of all this delicious food; so many people around the world don't have even a fraction of what is available to us.

The way I tie my faith in with my food is by inviting non-believing friends for a dinner or party at my house and in that setting I get to share my faith over a meal without seeming pushy, its just 2 friends chatting over some home cooked food. When I am eating alone I like to think about it as private time with the Lord a time to have a conversation with him like I would a friend.

You all probably would not believe me, but just the other night I told my husband that I wanted to do the Daniel fast. I don't know enough about it but I would love to learn more. I have a cousin who's church promotes the fast. How cool, now I know there is a book on it. Thanks

I am trying to start eating naturally like God intended with organic, fresh foods. Also, a long time ago I lost weight by only eating something I could thank God for before eating. I could not thank him in prayer every afternoon stopping by the convenience store and buying a milky way and a coke! that stopped that destructive habit!
