Bless Her Pea-Pickin' Heart!
Feb 17 2012
Today, I had big plans.
I was going to go shopping at Costco and get our usual warehouse shopping done, which usually feeds this troop for about 45 minutes. What can I say? We like food! Then, I was going to go by the post office and mail out two packages. Then I was going to swing by Chick-Fil-A so my son could go in once more and ask if the manager has had a chance to look at his job application yet (the boy is desperate). He also probably blew his chance to get a job when he first turned it in. He was wearing a Jimmy Hendrix t-shirt with a black leather jacket over it. That wouldn't have been so bad, but he had a big attack of allergies on the way over and his eyes were totally bloodshot. He's worried that the manager probably thinks he's a pothead. I reassured him that, yes, the manager probably does think he is a pothead (I'm really good at consoling my kids).
So, those were my plans.
But we all know what happens to the best-laid plans of mice and moms, right?
Kenna caught a cold. Bless her pea-pickin' heart! Actually, she never picked any peas. She woke up all sniffly last night and climbed into bed with us. And all she has wanted to do today is just snuggle with her mama. And you know what? That's perfectly fine with me.
The other day, my oldest daughter called me from her college dorm a stinkin' six and a half hours away. She was sick and she wanted her mom. All I could do was stay on the phone with her for a few minutes and lift up a prayer. I'll take the cuddles when I can get them because if life has taught me anything, it's that it won't last.
About an hour ago, I decided to fold a couple loads of laundry and tell Kenna stories while she laid down in my bed. It wasn't long before she was out.
The cuddles and stories last for a moment.
I can always run errands later.
