About Mom Expert Hannah Keeley
I'm Hannah Keeley. You may have seen me on television as the host of the series, "Hannah, Help Me!" where I visit an overwhelmed mom for a couple of days and help her turn her life around. Or maybe you've heard me speak somewhere or picked up one of my books at your local library. Or maybe you just ran into me at the grocery store while I was trying to wrangle my seven kids. Whatever reason brought you here today, I'm thankful for it. There's a whole lot of good stuff going on here and I would love for you to pull up a chair and stay for a while. Actually, the chair is optional. Go ahead and sprawl out on the floor if you like. While you're here, check out some helpful articles or yummy recipes, get a motivational kick in the pants if you need it, or if you're feeling extra bold or just poured a strong cup of coffee, you can take a look at my journal where I give you an inside look at my life. This website serves one major purpose—to inspire and equip moms to achieve their best lives (actually, would that be two purposes? The jury is still out on that one).
Way back before I ever thought about being a real mom, I was pretending to be one with my dolls. However, I used most of my doll clothes to dress up my cat, Fat Max. I didn't know it at the time, but God was training me for the best career I would ever have—motherhood (dressing up a fat cat in doll clothes is comparable to handling a toddler at Chuck E. Cheese). Here is a picture of me and my family when I was little. I'm the youngest one plunked down in the middle. Max couldn't make the picture. He was eating some bologna I had just fried up for him.
I went off to college, met this handsome artist guy who swept me off my feet, got married, and became a behavior therapist while he did artsy stuff (he calls it directing; I call it doodling). Here we are when we graduated from college together. Don't we look so wise and learned?
Fast forward a few kids and a few years later and I found myself in a cluttered home, out of shape, overwhelmed, wearing nasty old sweatpants and drowning in debt. Do I dare? Oh, what the heck. Here's a picture of me with thirty extra pounds, mountains of debt, and self-confidence at an all-time low. Seriously, mama. I can't believe I'm showing you this picture. I remember when I got them back from being processed. I immediately cut the bottom of the picture off so no one could see how wide my middle was. Just a little side note here: When people say that horizontal stripes make you look bigger, they're telling the truth.
Things had to change and no one was going to be able to do it but me. I knew God had bigger and better plans for me. It just took me a while to agree with Him. Finally, I got my rear in gear and got my life together. Fast forward more years and more kids, and now I'm helping moms do the same. When it comes to motherhood, I've been there, done that, and I know what works. Little did I know, back when I was playing with Fat Max, what a wonderful and joyous career motherhood could be. Sure, it can be exhausting and messy, even a little (okay, a lot) stinky, but between you and me? I love it—even the stink! And I want you to love it, too.
I'm happy you're here.
